A Technological Enterprise to serve the
nation from Purvanchal (NE) and at the Service of the Nation, POGL
Institute for Petroleum and Energy Development belongs to the new
genre of institutes of national importance in higher technological
research in the energy sector with prime focus on oil & gas resources.
The institute is located in the heart of Guwahati city, the capital of
Assam and gate way of NE India and has established itself as a premier
centre of research, consultancy and technological innovations.
The Institute has taken initiative to offer emerging technology
services to overcome constraints of oil and gas companies of NE,
whenever and wherever required, on call out basis, for enhancement of
oil and gas exploration, production and gas utilization. The
organization proposes to streamline procedures for introducing quick
decision making machinery and introduction of state of the art
technology for exploration in inaccessible areas. In addition, it has
been planned to initiate action for reduction of gas flare through
manufacture of value added product by making CNG, LNG and LPG which
will result substantial national savings.
With an intention of focusing in hi-tech areas, the core competence of
the company is emerging E&P technology as it is led by personnel of
high repute, having world wide experience in planning and execution of
innovative challenges in knowledge based critical areas like geology,
reservoir, and production and to solve complicated sub-surface drilling
and fishing problems. Re-engineering and re-energizing of discovered
and long producing field through shared resources to examine for
enhancing production and recoverable reserve is a major area of thrust
through drain hole and lifting optimization. Most of the technocrats of
the company are having widespread International knowledge, including
that of deep Assam field. It is heartening to note that, in addition to
having extensive experience of drilling and producing from cluster of
deep straight and deviated wells in NE, our technocrats have also
experience in drilling deep exploratory wells in Middle East as deep as
7000 M. So far, out of millions of oil field problems, fire fighting
and post capping of high pressure and high caliber (up
to10000-bbl/day/well) fire ravaged (more than 7000 wells after
liberation of Kuwait, in record time, has been recognized as the
biggest technological and managerial challenge where our technocrats
not only participated but actively co-ordinate the activities of
various companies from places like USA, UK, France, Canada, Romania
etc. Our technocrats have experience in specially manufactured custom
designed sub-surface tools and surface equipment and execution of
multibillion dollar well revival program.
The faculties are of industrial repute, a brilliant student community,
excellent technical and supporting staff and an effective
administration have all contributed to the pre-eminent status of
